Hoyo de Monterrey Elegantes Cigar LCDH
Cuban lonsdale cigars — Cervantes and Dalias in factory language — measure roughly 155 to 182 mm with a 40 to 46 ring gauge, and give you an unhurried hour.
The lonsdale is the elegant end of the Havana catalogue: long enough to move through three distinct stages, thin enough that the smoke stays cool and precise the whole way. It burns slowly and asks you to do the same, which is why it has always been a favourite of long-standing collectors rather than first-time buyers.
Examples include the Cohiba Siglo V, the Partagás Aliados LCDH, Trinidad Cabildos and Ingenios, the Montecristo No. 1 and Sancho Panza Rocinante.
For the same length at a far thinner ring gauge, see Cuban lanceros; for the same length with more girth, see Cuban Churchills. Many of these releases sit in Limited Editions and Regional Editions.
