New World robusto cigars run from about 119 to 139 mm with a 48 to 57 ring gauge — the 5 x 50 benchmark, and around 45 minutes of smoking.

Outside Cuba the robusto is the default: the size a house rolls first and the one its reputation is usually built on. Nicaraguan robustos tend to be the fullest, Honduran ones earthier, Dominican ones smoother and more aromatic — which makes this the most useful format for tasting one country against another.

Look for the Camacho Corojo and Nicaragua Robusto, the Aladino Cameroon Robusto, the Davidoff Maduro Robusto, the Zino Nicaragua Robusto and robustos from Plasencia and Perdomo.

Compare the Havana take in Cuban robustos, or move up to a New World toro. If strength is what you are after, see our full strength cigars.
